Empty Bowls…..Fighting Hunger One Bowl at a Time
For the $20 ticket price, individuals receive a delicious bowl of soup and bread donated by local restaurants, and they go home with a beautiful handmade ceramic bowl and the satisfaction that they are helping to fight hunger one bowl at a time.
The Citrus College Ceramics department, the Tri Community Adult Education’s “Pioneer Potters”, and several local ceramic artists have donated hundreds of handmade bowls to the event, allowing for wide selection and variety. Several service groups come together, including Glendora Police Auxiliary and Explorers, Kohl’s and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints youth, to support the First Christian Church Empty Bowls project.
Proceeds benefit food assistance programs administered by Shepherd’s Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Glendora Police Department. The annual Empty Bowls Benefit takes place on the second Friday in March each year at First Christian Church, 300 N. Glendora Ave., Glendora, CA 91741.
Next Event: Friday, March 8, 2024 at 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at First Christian Church of Glendora.
The Empty Cups Benefit takes place at Classic Coffee, a local coffee shop in Downtown Glendora. For a $15 donation you choose a ceramic cup to keep and a hot beverage. Proceeds benefit Shepherd’s Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul, and Glendora PD vouchers.
