Movie Workshop – Lilo & Stitch
For $75, kids ages 5 -14 years, on Friday, August 1 at 5:00 – 8:00 pm, there will be a drop-off “lock-in” movie workshop, where your kids can enjoy cooking and eating Hawaiian cuisine based on the film. Children can bring blankets or stuffies to sit down and enjoy the movie. Dinner + Drink + Snack.

Through basic hand building techniques, you will design and create your own unique piece. This intimate class setting is great for all skill levels. Especially if you are a curious beginner. Spring Has Sprung! Enjoy Spring Blooms for Free
Warmer weather has arrived in the SGV, which means bountiful blooms are around the corner. There are a number of ways to enjoy our local natural beauty for free. On March 29, 2025, in honor of the native plant festival, the California Botanic Garden in Claremont will be free, (reservations recommended). Descanso Gardens in La Cañada Flintridge is free the third Tuesday of every month with advance reservations. The LA Arboretum in Arcadia is also free on third Tuesdays. And last but certainly not least the Huntington Library and Gardens has a free day on the first Thursday of each month, more information linked here. Enjoy!

Themed “Lock-in”, Dinner & Movie Night
Get ready for Friday, March 21, 2025 – 5:30 – 8:30 pm, for three hours of fun themed around the Pixar film “Luca”. Includes a movie screening, dinner dessert, and crafts. Students will help make, then eat pasta from the film, garlic bread, and a dessert. Students are welcome to bring their favorite stuffie and blanket for movie and popcorn time!
Empty Bowls
Come to Empty Bowls on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at First Christian Church of Glendora. For the $20 ticket price, individuals receive a delicious bowl of soup and bread donated by local restaurants, and they go home with a beautiful handmade ceramic bowl and the satisfaction that they are helping to fight hunger one bowl at a time. Proceeds benefit food assistance programs administered by Shepherd’s Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Glendora PD Vouchers.
Looking to make a difference and help the most vulnerable in these challenging times, the East San Gabriel Valley CROP Hunger Walk has set a goal of 150 Walkers and hopes to raise $12,000 to help stop hunger and poverty here in our community and around the world, through self-help initiatives. A portion of the funds raised here in Glendora will go to St. Vincent de Paul (which provides a number of resources out of St Dorothy Church in Glendora for anyone in need), Shepherd’s Pantry(a wide array of services for Glendora & surrounding cities) and the Spartan Garden at Sandburg Middle School. Church World Service, the sponsors of the CROP Walk, have also been providing disaster relief to those impacted by the recent devastating fires in southern California.

FCCG is joining with the United Methodist Church this Ash Wednesday for an early morning “drive thru” for the imposition of ashes and we will be gathering for an evening service at 7 pm. On Wednesday, March 5, between 8 – 9 a.m., you can drive thru or walk in to the United Methodist parking lot, 201 E. Bennett Ave. That evening we will be worshiping together at First Christian at 7 pm.
Shrove Sunday
“Fat” Sunday (Mardi Gras) March 2, 2025 before and after worship – bring “decadent” treats!
Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday), is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Lent – the 40 days leading up to Easter – was traditionally a time for fasting, reflection and penitence. On the days leading up to Ash Wednesday, Christians would often follow the tradition of ridding a household of all yeast-based foodstuffs in preparation for Lent. All items that contained yeast or fat would be cleaned out before Ash Wednesday (hence “Fat Tuesday”, aka “Mardi Gras”). We will be preparing for Lent by inviting you to bring “decadent” treats to share before and after worship on March 2

Watts Towers Tour
A tour of the Art Center and Watts Towers that were created by an Italian immigrant, Simon Rodia. On Sat, Feb 22 we will meet at FCCG at 10:30 am to carpool together. Cost: General admission- $7, Youth & Seniors- $3, Children 12 & under- free. (Confirmed noon tour for 20 MAX)

Dogs with Claus
On November 24, 2024 from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm at FCCG, Dog owners can bring their dogs and family to talk to, and take photos with, Santa Claus. Dog owners will use their own cameras (cell phone, digital camera, film camera, polaroid camera, etc.) to capture the experience, but Elves will be available to assist.

Pancake Sunday & Canned Food Collection
Prepare for the Lenten season by joining us for Pancake Sunday February 11, 2024 at 10 am.
Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday, is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Lent – the 40 days leading up to Easter – was traditionally a time of fasting and on Shrove Tuesday, Christians went to confession and were “shriven” (absolved from their sins). A bell would be rung to call people to confession. This came to be called the “Pancake Bell” and is still rung today.
First Christian Church lower level will be transformed in to our Lenten Pancake house as hotcakes & sausage come off the grill on this special Sunday.
On Sunday we are also “kicking off” our month of raising awareness & funds to fight hunger. Bring a non-perishable food item or ash to donate to Shepard’s Pantry.

There will be a Holiday Remembrance Service at Oakdale Mortuary on Thursday, December 14 at 6:00PM. Remembering loved ones at the holidays can be difficult. Join with others in the community for this time of reflection and remembrance.

On Sunday, October 29, 2023, we will meet at the church at 3 p.m. to go reverse “trick or treating” to some of our homebound members. Come dressed in your “Halloween attire” and join us for fun and service to others. We will conclude out time by returning to the church (approximately 5 p.m.) to share a potluck of your favorite “spooky” treat and have a costume contest.

FREE “Hands-Only CPR” Training
There will be FREE “Hands-Only CPR” training offered by the Dept. of Public Health on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at FCCG, 300 N Glendora Ave, Glendora.
“Studies show that Hands-Only CPR increases the survival rate of a person in a cardiac arrest emergency. People who receive CPR from family, friends, neighbors, or bystanders while waiting for emergency personnel to arrive are twice as likely to survive as those who do not.
During this training, you will learn the skills needed to conduct HOCPR, including practicing chest compressions. Please join in our efforts to prepare and train our community in HOCPR.”

Empty Bowls…..Fighting Hunger One Bowl At a Time
The 20th annual Empty Bowls Benefit will take place on March 10, 2023, 5 – 7 p.m. at First Christian Church, 300 N. Glendora Ave. For the $20 ticket price, individuals will receive a delicious bowl of soup and bread donated by local restaurants, and they will go home with a beautiful handmade ceramic bowl and the satisfaction that they are helping to fight hunger one bowl at a time. The Citrus College Ceramics department, the Tri Community Adult Education’s “Pioneer Potters, and several local ceramic artists have donated hundreds of handmade bowls to the event, allowing for wide selection and variety. Several service groups will come together, including Glendora police Auxiliary and Explorers, Kohl’s and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints youth, to support the First Christian Church Empty Bowls project. Proceeds will benefit food assistance programs administered by Shepherd’s Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Glendora Police Department.
Public Art Launch Event at First Christian Church
Join us this Friday, March 3 at 10 am for the Ribbon Cutting and Launch of our Public Art installation at 300 N. Glendora Ave. Beginning Friday through April 9, local artists will be creating a mural on our church building. Ash Wednesday – Drive Thru and Evening Service to Receive Ashes
FCCG is joining with the United Methodist Church once again to mark Ash Wednesday and we will be providing two opportunities for you to receive the imposition of ashes. On Wednesday, February 22 between 7:30 – 8:30 a.m., you can drive thru or walk into the United Methodist parking lot, 201 E. Bennett Ave., for a blessing and the imposition of ashes. On the evening of February 22, we invite you to join us for an Ash Wednesday service in the First Christian Church sanctuary, 300 N. Souper Bowl of Caring
The “Souper Bowl of Caring” is an annual event that is national in scope, yet local in impact. You are invited to join us in helping the families and people of our area who need food assistance. From now until the weekend of the big game (February 12), we will gather monetary donations and canned and nonperishable food items for those who are in need. All donations given will then be used to help stock the shelves at the Shepherd’s Pantry in Glendora. Monetary donations can be mailed to FCCG/Souper Bowl, 300 N. Glendora Ave., Glendora, CA 91741. Nonperishable food items (especially needed are pasta and macaroni and cheese) can be dropped off Sunday mornings at the church, or call 626.335.2240 for additional times. Holiday Music and Open House
Join us Friday December 16 at 7 p.m. for singing holiday music and an Open House of artwork from the Art Academy students. Plan to celebrate the season and recognize the accomplishments of the students. A special “jolly” guest is also planning to visit. Be sure to join in the fun.
Christmas Caroling
Join us December 18 at 3pm as we meet at the church to go Christmas caroling to some of our homebound members. Wear your favorite Christmas sweater and help share holiday cheer. All ages and singing abilities welcome! We will meet back at the church at 5 p.m. following caroling for some light refreshments.
FCCG Train Show
On November 18, 6 – 9 p.m., the annual Glendora Holiday Stroll & FCCG Train Show will be taking place. Volunteers are needed to help with hosting the train show indoors and the outdoor train ride. Please contact Pastor Karen if you available to assist.
Empty Cups
Friday, November 4, 2022, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Classic Coffee in the Glendora Village. A $15 donation gets you a ceramic cup and a hot beverage. Proceeds benefit Sheppard’s Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul, and Glendora PD vouchers.
